Simon Humphreys

Simon Humphrey, South Coast Data Protection Consultants
Simon is a fully qualified Data Protection Practitioner, having been awarded the BCS Certificate in Data Protection.

He has also undergone further training in specialist areas including data protection impact assessments, data protection audits, subject access requests and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and has a BSc (Hons) Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Risk, Disaster and Crisis Management.

Simon retired from Surrey Police as the Head of the Professional Standards Department in 2012. The majority of his police service was in the investigation of serious and major crime.

As the Head of the Professional Standards Department, he was responsible for investigation of criminal and misconduct allegations against police officers and staff, developing intelligence, overseeing public complaints in accordance with the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Additional responsibilities included the management of the Data Protection Unit and ensuring that Surrey Police were compliant with the Data Protection Act 1998. Having retired from the Police Service, Simon is now a Director of South Coast Data Protection Consultants Ltd.

Sandy May

Sandy May, South Coast Data Protection Consultants

Sandy is a fully qualified Data Protection Practitioner, having been awarded the ISEB  Data Protection Certificate.

She has also undergone further training in specialist areas including data protection impact assessments, data protection audits, subject access requests and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Sandy has valuable experience in the law of privacy, having specialised in this area since 2010 and is now a Director of South Coast Data Protection Consultants Ltd.

Sandy is a lawyer, having qualified as a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 1996, and, prior to working in data protection, she notched up 17 years’ litigation experience working in local government and private practice. Her case load included consumer law, negligence, contract disputes, debt recovery, repossessions and breaches of highways and planning legislation.

She also provided pro bono advice for the Citizens Advice Service and represented her clients in the Magistrates Court and County Court on a regular basis.
